After serving as NFCC Cruise Captains for 2008 B&B is off on it's own adventures.

We brought B&B to Ft. Lauderdale in January for the BCS National Championship Game between the Florida Gators and Oklahoma Sooners.  We had a great time and especially enjoyed the Oklahoma grad docked a few boats away from us at Pier 66 in Ft. Lauderdale.

After experiencing record low temps in Ft. Lauderdale we finally arrived at B&B on March 4th ready to explore the keys.  BB's 61' mast dictated that we go from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami on the outside.  The conditions were awful offshore, rough and windy.  We waited at Pier 66 in Ft. Lauderdale for several days (I know it was tough) and finally got what sounded like a reasonable forecast and what felt like less winds on Saturday so off we went on Sunday March 8th.  Well the forecast 2 -4 was more like 3-5, choppy with an occasional 7 footer.  We motored to Miami and entered Biscayne Bay where we were able to motor sail.  Wow what a great sailing venue.  Check out this picture taken on Monday.  I'm not sure I got all the boats in the regatta in the picture!

Then there is the anchorage we dropped the hook at Sunday night.  It's called "No Name Harbor" and is one of the most spectacular anchorages I've ever been in.  It's now a State Park and the sign says it's $13 a night.  No one ever came to collect from us.  You can dingy to shore or if you have a shoal draft you can tie up next to the bulkhead.  If you are ever sailing in this area I highly recommend you stop here and if the weather is bad it's protected from 360 degrees.

Monday we're off headed south to Key Largo.  We spent our first hour trying to re-attach the foot of the main to the in-mast roller furling system.  I would really love the have some of the design people from Hunter come show me how easy they think this is.  Perhaps if they employ children with hands small enough to reach in the 2 inch hole in the mast they give you to work with.  We finally succeeded and were off motor sailing south.  The charts showed shallow water in most marinas on the inside so we ended up anchoring at the end of Key Largo and beginning of Traviner Key.  This picture was taken just before we anchored.

We left here and headed to our destination from last night that we couldn't make before dark, the City Marina at Plantation Key.   A nice facility with a public pool, tennis, ball fields, beaches and quite an impressive dockmasters office...check it out.

It's a POD!

Plantation was a short destination and a much needed day to clean B&B.  We could have gone in the sea salt business from being offshore.

Here's the view from our dock at Plantation Key.
